I've been involved in taxes for lengthier then I care to acknowledge, both on the personal side (all my employed lifetime!!) and from a legal standpoint since passing the bar and pursuing tax law. I've rendered a lot of advice and corrected a lot of wrongs, and I must say that what you've posted makes perfect sense. Please continue the good work - the more people know the better they'll be armed to deal with the tax man, and that's what it's all about.

The City of Cape Coral has one of the highest rates of foreclosure in the country. The citizens of Cape Coral recently faced a 40% increase in water rates which will be increased to 90% over the next 5 years. As a teacher I view the effects that the economy has on my students and their families. I have written to the City Council and then to Governor Crist to please assist the City before it is a ghost town. Governor Crist replied that he couldn't help since it is not in his realm of control. In truth he won't do anything. DO NOT VOTE FOR HIM WHEN HE RUNS FOR THE SENATE. He has his own agenda but it does not appear to have anything to do with the people of Florida.

I was in Vietnam when the bureaucrats decided that smoking was bad for you, and pulled the little 5-packs of smokes out of the C-Rations. The life expectancy of an M-60 machine-gunner in a firefight was about 5 minutes, and the Pentagon weenies were worried about lung cancer at 60? The cigarettes kept the mosquitoes off, and could be used to burn off leaches, too. If you didn't smoke (I didn't.) you could trade your cigarettes for someone else's fruit cocktail or peaches. Can we just, please, focus on winning and/or killing the Taliban and Al Quaida leadership and getting the hell out instead of playing politically-correct games with military personnel's personal and voluntary vices?

In ADDITION to all other activities, might I suggest internalism? Local parties ARE starting to notice us, the grumbling minority in the middle of chaos. Whether by telling the truth or by deception, I believe it is VITAL that huge numbers of SJ suddenly find themselves appointed delegates at state and national conventions of BOTH parties.
Imagine an exceptionally loud, militant, cap wearing "Rabble" that refuse to be removed from the floor at said conventions. That is where the rev. is going to start. Bring back the chicago 7

This is a proposal of one of the more nanny-ish departments, not of the Pentagon. The Pentagon has announced that it will not forbid soldiers to smoke! I heard both in the same newscast.

As soon as I spotted this site I knew RAHs work was involved.

Those who refuse to support and defend a state have no claim to protection by that state. Killing an anarchist or a pacifist should not be defined as "murder" in a legalistic sense. The offense against the state, if any, should be "Using a deadly weapon inside city limits," or "Creating a traffic hazard," or "Endangering bystanders," or other misdemeanor.
However, the state may reasonably place a closed season on these exotic asocial animals whenever they are in danger of becoming extinct.

Natural laws have no pity

You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.

Now that I know this is here I will have to check it out more often.

That clause of the Constitution is very interesting. The thing is that it equates treaties and Congressional acts to the Constitution - but the courts are allowed to strike laws down if they conflict with the Constitution.

If Congress approves a treaty which violates the civil rights of American citizens, could that treaty ratification itself be declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court under the same reasoning that any other act of Congress could be?

Granted, the history of McCain-Feingold doesn't leave me too sanguine that -this- court would venture out on that limb, but still...
