Despite the International Court of Justice‘s wishes, and despite the Sec Gen of the UN’s oh-so-heartfelt appeal, this murdering rapist, who killed two teenage girls after he and his buddies gang raped them (and all that that implies), is going to be put to death tonight.

I love this statement from the Texas executive branch:

“Mr. Medellín gang-raped and murdered two teenagers,” said Allison Castle, a spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Perry. “We welcome foreign visitors, but for those who come here with the intent to do harm, there are going to be consequences.”

I also heard the governor himself has said that it is for God to judge and forgive, but the State of Texas will be happy to arrange the meeting. (Quoted from the host of a national radio program.)

When I was a kid growing up in Alabama, my state still used the electric chair. Whenever they State got ready to delete someone, I would be sure to turn off all the electrical appliances in the house, disconnect the phone, turn off the air conditioner, unplug the fridge, and kill all the lights. The only thing I left running was the radio or the TV, tuned to the news channel. Just to make sure I was doing my part to ensure that there was enough juice going to the chair. With a tropical storm bumping into Texas at the moment, I would like to think that the people of Texas are doing the same thing. But then I realized that the Republic uses lethal injection instead of The Chair these days.

Sometimes technology doesn’t improve methodology, I guess. Public hangings were far better.

So, IJC, are you planning on indicting Gov. Perry? I can guess that a bunch folks in Texas would be glad to see him go, but not for THIS reason. On this one, he pretty much has the support of Texas, and a whole lot of others throughout this country also. Maybe, IJC, you should just step way over to the other side of the room so you don’t have to see the icky bits that go along with REAL Justice.

Barack Obama, in a desperate bid for actual accomplishment, is sponsoring this ludicrous bit of legislation:

A nice-sounding bill called the “Global Poverty Act,” sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations.

As I explained just a few moments ago to the nice young men answering the phones for Sens. Martinez and Nelson, the UN is incapable of managing its way out of a wet paper sack, and in no way should be placed in charge of any currency more liquid than Monopoly money.

Feel free to find your own Senators and voice your opinions to their nice phone-answering young men. You can just hear the clean-cut ooze down the line, I tell you.

For extra-bonus badness points, secreted in this bit of junk are these tasty nuggets:

In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning “small arms and light weapons” and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Ah, you crazy, idealstic kids. You really know nothing of human nature at all, do you.

(Guest blogger: Mike Hendrix from Cold Fury)

Okay, this may not strictly count as a domestic nanny-state item, but since UN supporters generally come prepacked mailed-fist-in-velvet-glove with homegrown statists, I figure it merits a quick mockin’ here:

It didn’t attract much notice, but the General Assembly of the United Nations ended the year by passing a disgusting resolution protecting Islam from criticism of its human rights violations.

Lots of non-Muslims voted for it – a sign that more and more corrupt Third World governments are identifying with the ideology of Islam, even if they don’t accept its doctrines.

The resolution goes under the innocuous title “Combating defamation of religions” – but the text singles out “Islam and Muslims in particular”. It expresses “deep concern that Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism”.

Wrongly associated? As of today, terrorists have carried out 10,277 separate attacks since September 11, 2001. They all belong to the same religion, and it ain’t Methodism.

It sure ain’t. Although, as we know from the incessant chirping and twittering of our own Tranzi/PC handwringers here, the Methodists are just as bad.

It’s just that it’s in, y’know, poor taste to notice the sins of the Islamic fundies. After all, if you make them mad, they might KILL somebody.
