Unmasking

I would like to know to whom exactly this comes as a surprise.
“Don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother.” That’s what President Barack Obama said to Rep. Peter DeFazio in a closed-door meeting of the House Democratic Caucus last week, according to the Associated Press.
Yes, Mister “President…” We are keeping score as well.

Indeed. I think I’m signed up a member, but I’m having a heck of a time getting this to post on my site as such. This is a good site, and I see the “unmasking” thing all too clearly. A bit late perhaps. Somewhere around 8 months to a year ago would have been good.

Doesn’t the word “brother” in that sentence translate to “white boy”, as in “Don’t think we’re not keeping score, white boy.”
Just seems that way to me…

I see it as more of a generic informality used for emphasis, Rob. Like when someone’s driving like an idiot and you call him “buddy”… probably louder than you’ve ever used that word before.
No need to drum up extra outrage by stretching this into a racial issue. The comment does quite enough for itself as it stands.

Woohoo and the good news keeps coming. Can you imagine the uproar, and the protests if Bush had said this? I shudder in my P-Suit…
