A few years ago, I finished up a degree in courses generally designed for adults who haven't been in school for some years. I remember one instructor who started off the first class in a way that left no doubt where his political leaning was. He was called on it immediately by several in the class (including me) who essentially told him to can the political crap and teach his subject or we would drop the class. There were enough of us ready to go that the class would have been canceled and he would be out his money for that term. It was a struggle for him, but he managed to run the class without much in the political opinion. Once in a while the students win.
