Readings Needed!

Our Reading List there in the sidebar is just that…blogs we go through on a daily basis, not a popularity contest, not paid shilling, just blogs we read.  That said, we need more things to read!!  Who do you read every day?  (Please refrain from including the obvious, Instapundit, etc.)  Recommend some new readings to us, please!

I cannot recommend Protein Wisdom highly enough, and it’s always an interesting read at the Ace o’ Spades HQ (assuming you don’t mind talk of killin’ hobos and Val-U-Rite vodka).

Also, while he has not written in a while, you should go read Bill Whittle’s essay archives here. They are INCREDIBLE.

How about Eject! Eject! Eject!? Updates…less often than I’d like, but I really shouldn’t complain. Generally worth the wait though, in my opinion.

Have read Whittle, yes. Used to read PW when Jeff was actually writing it. Talking Back to 80s Music is a series I miss greatly.

How about something we’ve *never* seen before? Those little-known blogs whose writers turn out great stuff every day, but they’re not pulling thousands of visitors. Yet.

I wake up and post periodically, occasionally I make sense but I usually stick to frivolity and assorted acts of juvenile dim-wittery. Please drop by if you have the time…

I like the posts over at Four Right Wing Wackos, and it’s always amusing reading Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s blog.

BlameBush! is a great site for teh funnay

Kevin Baker’s The Smallest Minority is usually an excellent read, even factoring in his occasional “uber-posts”:
    http://www.smallestminority.blogspot.com/

An unusually libertarian point of view from lawyers is found on the Volokh:
    http://volokh.com/

Maggie’s Farm occasionally veers off into religious diatribes, but is still an excellent source for interesting links:
    http://maggiesfarm.anotherdotcom.com/

And David Codrea provides an unflinching, well reasoned, passionate and well-documented defense of the second amendment:
    http://waronguns.blogspot.com/

But if you want to get outraged about governmental abuse of power on a regular basis, hit Radley Balko:

Just a few of the sites I hit in my touring of the blogosphere, The Line Is Here included.

Eternity Road. I’d characterize it as conservative-libertarian-Catholic, individualist-synthesist-eclectic-political-ethical commentary. The fact that the estimable proprietor Francis W. Porretto allows me to contribute there shows an endearing touch of eccentricity.

Hmm, I don’t know where my comments are going but apologies if there are duplicates that show up later.

    I read:

    http://www.overlawyered.com
The first blog I’ve ever read and one of the best of its kind, chronicling the disastrous effects of overlitigation.

    http://burningourmoney.blogspot.com
British libertarian blog focusing on the waste of public money by Big Government.

    http://nannyknowsbest.blogspot.com
British anti-nanny state blog, daily updated with the latest nanny fiasco.

    http://www.thewelfarestatewerein.com
Detailing why the welfare state has failed to protect citizens but on the contrary damages their health, safety and prosperity. It’s not updated very regularly and mainly serves as an addendum to the book of the same name, which I highly recommend reading.

    Regards,
    George

To keep up on tech, since you’ve got politics covered pretty well, I recommend Al Fin’s tech blog alfin2100.blogspot.com which is pretty libertarian in political leanings when it touches them. I also like Brian Wang’s NextBigFuture but it can get a little bit lefty at times.

If you like your AGW skepticism chock full of real science, Tony Watts Watts Up With That is a very good read.

I love Bill Whittle’s site too, but also Rachel Lucas’s about as much. But of course, Our Divine Empress is already represented in your sidebar…

Apart from those, my favourite reads are:

    http://devilskitchen.me.uk/

    http://www.longrider.co.uk/blog/

    http://mreugenides.blogspot.com/

    http://brackenworld.blogspot.com/

All of which are right-leaning, libertarian sites (just noticed that you have DK already, sorry). I also read Misha and the Du Toits, who you might have already heard of. I’d also totally agree with George and recommend Nanny Knows Best and Burning Our Money (I haven’t visited the others he mentions yet).

Another favourite site is http://blamebush.typepad.com/ – pure gold, especially when it comes to the posts about midget studies…

Before the reading rec, an apology of sorts. Forgive me, but I can’t remember why I bookmarked you. I don’t do it that much these days, so I can only assume I followed a link and found something pithy, curmudgeonly and/or wickedly funny.

Now to the rec. This guy, http://sippicancottage.blogspot.com/, writes like an absolute dream. By turns reflective and reflexive, I recognize a lot of what he says he thinks and feels. He has an adjunct photo site, http://theborderlinesociopathicblogforboys.blogspot.com/, which has a bitchin’ title and some quaint and off-kilter pics, usually from days of yore. He reminds me somewhat of James Lileks, to whom I note with approval you link.

Now, back to the search for discovering why it was I bookmarked you…

Well, that’s just damned by faint praise there. Makes it sound like you see no such thing on the front page now so you’ll have to dig through the archives. Er, thanks, I think.

Do podcasts count? I found something recently; it doesn’t appear to be daily, but it’s interesting.
