The Expendables

I really don’t want it to seem like I’m specifically picking on Great Britain, after all, the United States certainly has its own share of, er…issues. But Old Blighty surely does make it easy…

A father was stabbed and beaten to death in front of his 7-year-old son by a gang he was trying to protect the child from in almost exactly the same way his own father was killed 23 years ago, according to the Daily Mail.

David Martin, 40, a window cleaner, was trying to protect his son from a band of bullies who were picking on the boy during a football game outside his house in South London.

The youths stabbed Martin with a Samurai sword and beat him to death with golf clubs and cricket bats while the child looked on, the Mail reported.

Not a gun in sight.

And next, an 11 year old with partial deafness in one ear is suddenly “cured” when the piece of q-tip that had been stuck in there since he was a toddler finally worked its way out.

Jerome Bartens was diagnosed as deaf in his right ear when he was just two-years-old.

Over the next nine years, he struggled to live a normal life as a young boy — but everything changed when he felt a sudden pop in his right ear while playing a game of pool with friends.

He put his finger in his ear and pulled out a tip of a cotton wool bud that had been wedged in his ear since he was a toddler.

And not one of the *coff* medical professionals consulted over the years noticed that crazy cotton-y thing stuck in the ear canal… Yeah, socialized medicine is the shiznit, y’all. Let’s switch to that!*

*complete and utter sarcasm
